Hearing - Neighborhood Livability and Services

Hearing on the state of neighborhood livability and services; and requesting Public Works, the Planning Department, and the Mayor's Office of Housing to report.

Irish American Heritage Month.

This measure would designate March 2015 as Irish American Heritage Month in honor of the multitude of contributions that Irish Americans have made to the country and state.

Sikh American Awareness and Appreciation Month.

This measure would designate November 2015 as California Sikh American Awareness and Appreciation Month. The measure would recognize and acknowledge the significant contributions Californians of Sikh heritage have made to the state. The measure would also seek to afford all Californians the opportunity to understand, recognize, and appreciate the rich history and shared principles of Sikh Americans.

California Museum Month.

This measure would recognize the essential role that museums have in the State of California as educational institutions and would proclaim May 2015 as California Museum Month.

Military bases: closures.

This measure would memorialize the President and the Congress of the United States to recognize the unique military value of California’s defense installations and the disproportionate sacrifices California has endured in previous base realignment and closure (BRAC) rounds.

Slavic Heritage Day.

This measure would recognize May 24, 2015, as Slavic Heritage Day.

State Archives: museum activities.

Existing law requires the Secretary of State to administer the State Archives Building Complex for the use, education, and enjoyment of the public. Existing law authorizes the Secretary of State to enter into an operating agreement with the Golden State Museum Public Benefit Corporation to operate a museum in the State Archives Building Complex. Robin Williams Tunnel.

This measure would designate the Waldo Tunnel on State Highway Route 101 between postmile 0.885 and postmile 1.074 in the County of Marin as the Robin Williams Tunnel. The measure would request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost for appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.

Ordinance amending the Administrative Code to extend the Film Rebate Program expiration date from June 30, 2015, to June 30, 2019, to correspondingly increase the authorized funding cap for the Film Rebate Project Account from $3,000,000 to $4,000,000 subject to annual appropriation and to make certain technical corrections.
